Teacher - Instructional Support
Summary:
With supervision, coordinates educational programs for a designated group of academic students with visual impairment.
Essential Functions:
1.
Providing Service:
a) Teaches visually impaired students with multiple disabilities on an individual and group basis.
b) Instructs in core curriculum, expanded core, life skills, and self-care areas.
c) Facilitates and participates in the development, review and evaluation of individualized educational program which may require the ability to observe and respond to a variety of environmental stimuli.
d) Conducts evaluations and assessments to determine child's developmental status, academics status, and mastery of Maryland grade level curriculum standards.
e) Implements and supports instructional components based on Applied Behavior Analysis (ABA).
f) Utilizes data collection procedures and assists with protocols for data analysis.
g) Provides instructional and behavioral support to students.
h) Provides support for students transitioning to other classrooms by modeling, coaching and providing feedback to the school-based team.
i) Collects student-specific data and provides support to others to assist in tracking student progress and maintaining data.
j) May also include entering data into graphing tools and updating graphs.
k) Attends and presents data at relevant meetings.
l) Assists with physical behavior management as needed.
m) Assists with toileting and hygiene routines as needed.
n) Assists students with travel skills and concept development.
o) Utilizes augmentative communication devices.
p) Uses and assists students with use of computers, iPads, and other forms of technology.
q) Works with medically/developmentally/uniquely complex students from ages 5 to 21, with a spectrum of visual impairment and additional needs.

Coordinating Service:
a) Participates in interdisciplinary team meetings, IEP meetings, staff meetings, and other school and student meetings as needed.
b) Plans and/or chaperones on and off-campus activities, appointments, programs and field trips which may require the ability to lift up to 50 lbs.

Equipment Used:
Low vision devices (high & low tech), assistive technology used by students who are blind or visually impaired, copy machine, computer and software including a variety of cloud conferencing platforms, various adaptive and orthopedic equipment and telephone.
Performance Standard:
Must assure 100% commitment to the integration, coordination, and implementation of student programs, and compliance with health and safety standards.
Work Environment:
Multiple indoor and outdoor environments with varying sound, lighting and temperature conditions.
May be exposed to various conditions when providing direct care to students.
Work Schedule:
35 hours per week, Monday through Friday, with a 30-minute unpaid lunch period.
This position follows the standard eleven month school schedule.
Additional hours or flex schedule may be required.
Requirements
Qualifications:
Comprehensive knowledge of special education principles, practices, and procedures, including developing and writing IEP's and performing appropriate teaching techniques.
Experience working with autism preferred.
Minimum of Bachelor's degree and ability to meet MSDE certification with an endorsement in Vision PREFERRED and Special Education REQUIRED.
General knowledge of visual impairment, including causes, manifestations and adaptations.
Must demonstrate competency through observation and practice in relevant areas at least quarterly.
General knowledge of medical disorders such as seizures or restrictions; alternate modes of communication; feeding techniques and orthopedic impairment/handling and positioning.
General knowledge of core and expanded core curriculum, program development, classroom resource management, and student/personnel scheduling.
Ability to push and pull in excess of 100 pounds and ability to lift in excess of 50 pounds with assistance.
Must complete all relevant specialized training programs.
Staff will be evaluated against an established list of competencies on a quarterly basis.

The check can be for multiple reasons such as signing bonus, supplies, etc. The victim will be instructed to deposit the check and use the money for any of these reasons and then instructed to send the remaining funds to the fraudster. The check will bounce and the victim is left responsible.
